Questions

What is a 9:16 crop used for?

Vertical video: Instagram and Facebook stories, TikTok, YouTube Shorts and phone wallpapers. The selection on this page is locked to 9:16, so every handle you drag keeps that shape and the export is guaranteed to match it - you cannot accidentally end up one pixel off.

Does cropping reduce the file size?

Yes, because there are fewer pixels to store. A crop that keeps half the area will usually produce a file somewhere near half the size, though the exact figure depends on how detailed the part you kept is.

How do I crop to an exact aspect ratio?

Pick a ratio and the selection locks to it: dragging any handle keeps the shape, and dragging the box to an edge shrinks it rather than distorting it. The readout under the image shows the pixel size and the ratio of the current selection at all times.

Are my images uploaded anywhere?

No. Image Cropper runs entirely inside your browser using the Canvas API. The file is read from your device, processed on your device, and the result is handed straight back to you. It never travels to a server, so there is nothing for us to store, log or leak.

Is it free, and is there a limit?

It is free with no account and no watermark. Because the work happens on your own hardware there is no per-image cost to us, so there is no quota. The only real limit is your device's memory: images beyond roughly 40 megapixels are refused rather than crashing the tab.
